Patients to control NHS records
Patients will be able to control their own NHS records online, if a new government plan gets the go-ahead.
In what has been called an ‘Information Revolution’, everyone who wishes to will be given their own user name and password. They will be able to access their records and update them with information such as blood pressure readings or cholesterol levels.
They will also be able to look at information about different hospitals – and even doctors – and compare them. The plan is now out for public consultation.
