Our work keeps the College grounded in good science

Members of our Science Council include leading clinical scientists, biophysicists, chemists and other biomedical scientists, experts in public health and epidemiologists.

The Science Council's first projects included a conference on cancer and a piece of research by Professor Andrew Miles on the nature of good evidence.

You can read more about the philosophy of the Council here, in our Science and Evidence discussion paper.

More

Events

The Science Council runs an annual seminar series on a range of topics which give a multi-faceted, rounded look at a disease or treatment modality.  We aim to run at least three such events each year.

Past event: putting Herbal Medicines into Practice

At Kew Gardens in July 2011 we examined quality Herbal Medicinal Products and what they can offer from clinical, regulatory, industry, research, practitioner and end-user perspectives. Conference slides can be read here.

Past event: Integrated Cancer Care

We brought together leading UK and European scientists, oncologists and GPs to look at all aspects of cancer care, from the latest clinical advances and individualised medicine to epidemiology and prevention.
